Anniversary :)

Today my H and I have been married for 2 wonderful years. I got married when I was 23 and I look back and realize how much I have grown.

We had a Catholic wedding (not full mass) then a reception at the country club my parents own (more like a cocktail hour) then a full reception in the grand ballroom at the Hilton by the river. It was a great day. Weather was perfect-you wouldn't have known we had a tornado 2 weeks prior.

We did pink and green as our colors. Everyone still talks about H's custom tie, our cake and what a fun day it was.

Can't wait for many more years.

Saturday Steeplechase

So today has been a fun day for me. I traveled to Charlotte North Carolina (6 hours west of where I grew up) to visit my best friend and go to the Queens Cup Steeplechase. A Steeplechase is a horse race with jumps.

Sarah is my best friend from college. I went off to college fall '06. We didn't live together but we might as well have. We both ended up transferring colleges the same year but never stopped being best friends. Of course, she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. She rides as well but doesn't own a horse. It's nice we share a mutual love for horses :)

I have realized how amazing of a friend I have had for the past 7 years.

The race was a blast. What a great day of socializing, horse races and of course great fashion :) ;)

We wore matching Target dresses! I want to get the mint one like Sarah has. They didn't have them at my store. Great minds think a lot ;) I borrowed the belt from her though and skipped the necklace I had originally planned.

I fly back to Fl tomorrow. I'm ready to see my H again and pick up again on house projects but for now best friend time is great.

Hope everyone has had an awesome weekend so far like I have had.

What I Wore Wednesday and a purchase

I have some outfits for what I wore Wednesday to share. I can already tell I am going to get a lot of use out of these Me Too flats.

I also purchased this Max and Cleo dress via Zappos for my sister's baby shower in June. I am searching for gold wedges now to go :)

Hope everyone is having a great week! I am so ready to go to Charlotte and see my best friend Sarah and go to the Queen's Cup Steeplechase Saturday!

Homemade Egg Fried Rice!

The other night my husband was craving Chinese food, especially egg fried rice. So I found a recipe on All Recipes and modified it. I used brown rice and I didn't add the soy sauce into the mix. I left it out to add to taste to help with the sodium levels (even reduced sodium has a good amount of sodium still!). It was good and I had the ingredients on hand...and 3 eggs to use up :)

You need:

1.5 cups rice
2 cups frozen vegetables (mine had corn, peas and carrots) I didn't defrost ahead of time, the heat in the pan did that.
3 eggs
Non stick cooking spray
Salt and pepper
Soy sauce

Cook your rice, add to pan sprayed with cooking spray. Over medium heat add the vegetables and mix. Push to one side of pan.

Beat the eggs with a fork in a separate bowl. On the other side of the pan, pour the eggs in and let it sit and let settle for 3-5 minutes. Mix in egg with the rice and vegetables, stir and break the egg up. Add salt and pepper and soy sauce to taste.

Corn Oil...for horses?!

I have realized my blog has turned into pretty much a fashion and home blog, and I need to post more horse related topics. Given that horses have been part of my life for so long, it should be included.

So corn oil is a well kept secret for helping a horse achieve a shiny coat. Why? Because of the essential fatty acids it has. It contains omega 6 fatty acids.

The way I give it to Shirley is by mixing it in with her feed. I do around 1/8 of a cup (eyeball) and shake the feed bucket by the handle to mix it in.

I haven't really noticed a difference in the shine (yet) but I have in the texture. Her coat is softer, and I think once her summer coat starts to come in I will be able to tell more of a difference.

To add fat or extra calories, flax seed or fish oil is a great choice. But for a shiny coat corn oil is a natural way to achieve this!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I've been riding, volunteering with Habitat and worked for a few hours from home.

Love reading your comments :)

What I Wore Wednesday!

I have lots to share for What I Wore Wednesday. Also I went to Target last night for random groceries and ending up with some purchases. What's new.

I have been loving target lately. They had these pants which were highly recommended. The other color they had in store in my size was mint! I figured it was meant to be :) my city has 2 other targets so I will be checking them out as well.

Target also had these layering tanks on sale for $6. They are so soft and I figure I can't have too many. I picked up a pink and purple. I also saw this necklace and knew it was mine. One of my shopping goals for spring/summer is to buy more necklaces. I love the sparkle!

I couldn't resist :) I'm wearing my new pants and necklace today. I love these pants. For the price the quality is great. I will be picking up more!

I figure might as well share some outfits from the week as well. Are you loving target as much as I am?

Mint Addict.

Hi. I'm the Shopaholic Equestrian. And I'm addicting to mint green.

.....that felt good :) needed to get it off my chest.

I love mint. I have so much mint green H thinks I'm insane. Pink is still my favorite color but mint is up there with it.

When I told H I wanted to paint our bedroom mint he stared at me like I lost my mind. Then again, when I told him I wanted a grey living room he thought I was turning into a crazy person, and he ended loving it. So I think he trusts me now :)

We did pick a shade and started painting but I'm not going to spoil which shade :)

Left to right we have Icy Mint, Sea Treasure and Beach Blanket. All from Valspar of course :)

Which is your favorite? What do you think I chose?

What I Wore Wednesday!

This week I am linking up with Hannah over at Just Call Me HaHa! ( justcallmehaha.blogspot ) this is my first link up. Happy to join for what I wore Wednesday!

I got this shirt from Jcrew Factory recently, and it's a bit out of my normal comfort zone but I like it! I wore it with BR pants, target belt and earrings, and Vince Camuto (new via tjmaxx) heels.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Weekend Purchases and Monday OOTD

Ohhhh Monday has arrived once again!

I am loving my Winnie pants from Jcrew Factory. At first I wasn't sure, but after Pinterest searching outfits I really love them. This outfit was my favorite of my finds. Flats are Target, blazer is Charlotte Russe and top is old from Macy's. I would've worn my heels, but my back and legs still hurt from Saturday. (I helped cut down a tree with a handsaw, laid tile and rode 2 horses. Not smart).

I went to Tjmaxx this weekend, and bought a pair of black Vince Comuto heels and a pair of coral pink Me Too flats. The VC heels are so comfortable (as VCs are) and were a steal at $49.99. Total for the shoes was around $85. They also had a pair of mint green Jessica Simpson heels but sadly the smallest size was too big, so I passed them to another shopper waiting to see if they worked for me (and was happy when they didn't).

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Paint Mistake?

So as homeownership entails, there is always something to be done now. Another project we planned to do that was on the easy side was to paint the guest bathroom.

We decided a peach color would be good. Our house seems to becoming matte colors, so I went to Lowes to get samples of peach colored paint.

As I was looking at the paint cards, an employee informed me that a gallon of Valspar Peach Champagne was made on accident and was on the sale table for $5! Valspar samples run for about $3.50 for a little container, so I thought for $5 for a gallon, why not take a chance? It seemed to be perfect. Got to the register and found out it was $4.50! I thought I hit the jackpot!

Well.

I get home, primed an area and begin to paint and my feeling of being trilled disappeared. It turned out to be more of a bubblegum pink and not a peach like I had in mind and not what the name entailed.

I'm going to see if it dries better, if I'm not happy I am going to donate it to Habirat for Humanity. Oh well. At least it was cheap.

So. This is why I will always pay for samples. Paint looks different on the wall then on the card. No big loss here thank goodness if this does turn into a fail.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

JCrew Factory Winnie Pant review

I ordered several pieces from Jcrew Factory on Sunday at 8 am to celebrate Lent (and my shopping freeze!) ending.

They had a 30% off sale and free shipping (and 3.5% back on ebates!). Only these Winnie pants came today, the rest of my order is coming separately for some reason.

I paid $34 total for these. My review? The pros are the color and the length. I love this color. I am going to Pinterest ideas later. The length is great also, no tailor for this short girl! The material is of great quality too for the price.

The cons are the side zip (I will have to get used to it) and the low rise (wasn't expecting it). The side zip actually reminds me of my horseback riding show pants!

For reference, these are a size 0. They for fine, if I ever got another pair I would probably size up one size.

The material does not have a lot of give, so keep that in mind if you are thinking of these.

Would I pay full price for these? No I wouldn't. But for the price they're great and will work.

I will show off the rest of my haul when it arrives!

What do you think of the Winnie?
