Kitchen Reveal

I am happy to share before and after photos of my kitchen! Yay for bringing it up to the 2000s ;)

Before. Old, outdated, broken appliances. Ugly white cheap cabinets and green (?!) counters. And horrible wallpaper.

After! Custom brown cabinets with custom pantry (we did not have a pantry at all before). Brand new stainless steel appliances and level 3 granite counters. New stainless steel sink and faucet and glass backsplash.

The color on the walls is Arid Plains from valspar.

Lol at the Henry photo bombs :)

Appliances are Fridgadaire. Faucet is Moen.

We used a local company who did all the work and it was great. 5 months of waiting was with it.

Our Henry Scare

My Henry. My sweet Henry.

I will try to keep this as non-graphic as possible.

Yesterday morning around 9:45, Henry made an odd wheezing sound. He did it once and went back to sleep. Didn't think anything of it.

I go and ride and made a target run, and come back to Henry making the wheezing again, this time much harder and louder. Cue the freak out.

From the time I got home and finished my shower after my ride, he had thrown up 6 times. I could not get ready fast enough, called Matt at work (who of course is slammed and can't leave for another 2 hours) as I am racing with Henry to the emergency vet. Wheezing + vomit = no good.

Matt met us there as soon as he got off (by then I had been there for almost 2 hours waiting for the doctor). It took a while for the vet to figure out what was wrong, and realized that he had gotten a case of kennel cough (I had him vaccinated for this but apparently it isn't always 100% effective) and it was now causing him stress. Poor guy.

4 hours later, 2 medicines and an RX for a third and we headed home.

Today he is doing great and more "himself". We had a few wheezing episodes but nothing to the extent of yesterday thank goodness.

Love that sweet face.

Man, I love my animals very much. I'm so glad he's ok. Definitely a "low" of this weekend but as long as he's ok that's all that matters.

Big Dots and Gingham

I love Pinterest for many reasons. One of the main ones is for new ideas on how to wear pieces I already own.

I found this pin and I love the gingham and big dots combo and I had similar pieces already.

Sweater, earrings, and gingham shirt are j crew factory, necklace is target, pants are old express and shoes are Vince Camuto via tjmaxx.

I have been horrible at blogging the past month, I have lots of hauls and my kitchen is done (!!!) so I will post pictures soon.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday to me! I hope 26 is a good year. 25 flew by fast. We were accepted on our house a few days before my birthday last year. Age 25 we closed, renovated the kitchen, did other upgrades....it flew by very fast.

I have a lot of personal bucket list items I want to check off that I feel like I didn't get to do yet. So here's to another year!

What I Wore. All Old

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours was pretty uneventful in the form of work, cleaning, riding, some gym time and laundry. Good times.

I am trying to get better at wearing pieces I already own. All of these pieces I have had for several months and even over a year.

Tee is target, pants are banana republic, shoes are Vince Camuto via tjmaxx, scarf is jcrew factory, earrings are target.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Sephora, TJMaxx, Old Navy and Target purchases!

I have started Christmas shopping already, and have picked up some things for myself of course :) Here are my recent purchases.

Sephora- I ordered some Christmas gifts, renewed my VIB status for 2014, and claimed my VIB birthday gift :) where is what I got for myself.

The Urban Naked Beauty Balm is amazing. It's so lightweight and not greasy. Coverage is great as well. I received a sample and loved it.

I needed more of my Clinique Dramtically Different lotion. I have used this for many years.

I love this glittery cosmetic case! It's multi color sparkle. I have so many cosmetic bags but I love this. It's perfect for my trips coming up.

Of course, love Sephora samples!

Target - I love this cobalt blue tee! It's so soft and will be great alone or as a layer.

After eyeing this shirt so long I finally caved in. I can't wait to wear it!

TJ Maxx -I found some great Christmas gifts and picked these out for myself.

I realize I have so many stripes but I love this. The material is so soft!

Again..stripes. What can I say? :) I sized up for a more relaxed fit.

Old Navy - I saw this scarf and I was instantly in love with it. I am debating getting the orange combo as well.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Small Changes

Sometimes the small changes make the biggest impact in a home. My Inlaws came to visit us last month and wanted to buy us something for the house. I did not like the entryway light fixture that came with the house so my Inlaws bought us a new one. Our handyman TJ installed it the other night and I love it. Plus, it's energy efficient.

The old one was so dark and gaudy looking.

New one! So much better.

It's a small change but it made such an impact.

Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

Make it your own

So. I saw this pretty wall decoration at Target a few months ago. Loved it. But for $19.99?

No way. Well. I found it on an end cap randomly at the small target in town (we have 3!) for $5.98.

Love those red clearance stickers!

The white was too blah for my taste. Since our living room will be grey and purple I decided to paint it.

I went to lowes and got my purple paint sample. I love getting samples over spry paint because a) it's cheaper b) you get more paint and c) you can pick your shade. (Usually spray paint has 1 or 2 shade options-samples have way more!)

I picked sweet violet from yep, valspar.

I primed the flower first. I like to prime especially if it's something that's not normally painte. Even if the paint has primer. And primer is cheap.

I had to be generous with the paint to get into the design. It took 2 coats.

I let it dry and then we hung it. I plan on getting some pretty candle chandeliers for each side. I've found a few I am considering :)

Love it. Make it your own! That's the joy of paint. And I have a ton of purple for something else.

Happy Wednesday!

Pinterest Inspired

I found this outfit on Pinterest and I love it. However I cannot wear chambray or any kind of jean like material unless it's Friday.

I took the leopard idea and put it into the shoes and wore a navy gingham instead.

Much better for my workplace dress code.

I love Pinterest! Happy Tuesday :)

At it again.

Yep. Matt and I are yet painting another room. This time it's our master bath.

Right now it's a cream color with very uneven areas (some areas you can a we strokes, some areas were missed!) so we wanted to do a tan/nude color to go with our brown/tan/mint green/coral pink master bedroom.

So I went to Lowes and got our valspar samples. We picked Dust Bunny and Sand Storm. Sand storm is on top.

Easy enough right?

Wrong.

Matt really likes dust bunny and I really like sand storm. I don't like dust bunny (too many red undertones) and Matt doesn't like sand storm (he says it's too boring).

Guess we need some time on this.

Why is painting so hard? Sigh.

Fall Shopping List

Even though I live in Florida now and it's not as "fall" here as back home in North Carolina, I am definitely craving some new fall clothes!

Red cardigan-I would love a red cardigan to wear with skinny jeans and leopard print.

Cobalt flats-I would love to get a pair! It's so versatile.

Wine skinny pants-I want a pair to wear with a top I have similar to this. I love this color and can work as a neutral.

Multi strand pearl necklace-I've been on the hunt for a while but I haven't found the "perfect" one. I want to definitely make it a fall shopping goal to find one!

I have such exciting news! My granite and kitchen cabinets are done and appliances go in tonight. I cannot wait to share photos with you soon!

Hope everyone has a great day! :)

Haircut!

So normally my hair is medium length or long. Last time it was short was when I was a senior in high school and had my hair cut like Kristin Cavalleri. Yes. True story.

I decided to take the plunge and go short and I'm so glad I did!

Inspiration was Julianne Hough's hair. I watched Safe Haven on the plans to Ireland (we had personal TVs with movies, shows, games and music on the back of seats) and loved her hair.

Here is a before picture from Ireland.

After!

(My makeup always gets washed off with a haircut-is that normal!?)

I love my haircut :) it's so much lighter too! Very happy with it. I am glad I found a great hair stylist here.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far :)

Our 'Random' room makeover

Remember that paint I originally bought for our guest bath that just did not work?

Yes, this valspar paint that turned out way more pink then expected. (Obviously we did not use it and used a light blue instead).

Well. It trend out to be the perfect color for our screened-in porch/lanai area!

Figured since we live in Florida we can get away with it, and it also brought out the pink in the floor tile.

We had to use a super fluffy roller brush to get into the grooves, then of course had to do some touch ups that we did with a fluffy handle brush. It took a weekend to do but we are happy with it and have received lots of compliments!

Not a huge difference, but way more fun :)

So. This is what happens when a homeowner gets bored apparently.

Piperlime/Old Navy haul

Two shopping posts in a week?! Man these sales have sucked me in.

Old Navy is doing 20% off (30% for cardholders) but it ends today! I am happy with what I got.

I used to hate old navy. Like. Loathed old navy. But I must say in the past year they have come out with some really cute and adorable clothing and accessories!

I love this top. I got it for less then $6 after all sales, etc. Its very comfy and I love the print. It is perfect for work.

I love this dress. I decided to pull the trigger and I'm so glad I did. I love the color. It's perfect for work or even an easy weekend piece.

I also got this shirt. I love the print and I can't wait to wear it with a pencil skirt! The quality is very high and it fits great!

For reference I ordered an XS in all pieces and very happy.

I had also been eyeing this Hive and honey necklace from piperlime. I bought it to get free shipping (yes yes) as old navy/gap/athelta/piperlime orders ship free with piperlime but I really wanted it and it went on clearance. It's heavy but I really like it and I don't have anything like it.

I am so happy with my new stuff :)

I am so ready for my kitchen to get done (being worked as I type!) and I can't wait to follow up :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

What I Wore Wednesday-old and new

I love mixing old pieces with new and giving older pieces a new look. Today I wore my old banana republic outlet skirt with my new Clare cardigan and my new necklace (hard to tell in photo) from jcrew factory. Tank is also old from jcrew factory and the heels are old from Macy's.

I haven't worn that skirt in a while and it was nice to wear it again.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

JCrew Factory Haul

Once again, jcrew factory has sucked me in to their sales. I was eyeing all of these pieces for a while so when a good sale came around I pulled the trigger (plus 3% back on ebates!)

I love this necklace! There's some sparkle that's hard to see. I love the grey and mint combo!

I love these v neck tees. They are my favorite. The colors are so pretty and they are so soft. I have so many colors now.

I also bought a navy Claire cardigan to replace my Jackie that finally had its day.

The Shopaholic Equestrian does it again.
