What I Wore Wednesday and Memorial Day Weekend Recap

So we had a nice Memorial Day weekend. Matt's family was in Fl at their vacation home so they came Monday for the day. We enjoyed hanging out on the screened in porch and grilled for lunch them went out for dinner. It was nice seeing family I haven't seen in a while. His brothers, dad and my soon to be sister in law made the trip.

Me and my soon to be sister in law Christina.

We also did an early birthday celebration for Matt. His birthday is Saturday.

I really got a good end of the stick with my Inlaws. Thank goodness.

Here is what I wore this past week.

I am somewhat on a shopping freeze. However I needed some necessities for Sephora. I also got a coral blazer at Macy's for the Memorial Day sale. I had been eyeing it and it went on sale then am extra 20% off with my Macys card so I couldn't resist.

I also got a new leave in conditioner this weekend. I am planning on writing a review soon!

Hope everyone had a great weekend :)

5 years

Yesterday was 5 years since I got Shirley. I remember loading up my trailer and going to get her. I was so excited.

Shirley belonged to a good friend of mine who I went to horse camp and horse shows with. I still keep in touch with her.

Here are some photos from the past 5 years :) it's been a very fun...errrr...expensive...5 years. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

What I wore Wednesday and kitchen update!

I would hate to waste iPhone snaps. Here are some of my outfits from this past week.

Also...exciting kitchen news! We put the downpayment on our cabinets. They are chocolate brown, all wood with a raised design (classic). Our granite is in the suppliers' storage still. We are doing a level 3 granite that goes so well with our backsplash and I love it. I am excited to get this started! Needless to say this has caused a shopping freeze for this shopaholic but it will be worth it.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far.

House Purchases

I feel almost like I've been nesting in a way the past few days. We have lots of family coming. H's family comes first, this week (they are staying in their vacation home close by) and then my family comes the weekend of June 1st (H's birthday weekend).

We went to lowes yesterday and picked up some hydrangeas for the front walkway. I love hydrangeas. We had them all over our wedding. We also bought a lawn mower. Finally. We have a lawn mower people! Back in NC we own (still do. We rent it out) a town home so it was never an issue. We also went to Target and got these solar power lights that change colors. They were on sale-normally $5 on sale for $3.

I love purchases :). And shopping. *sigh*

The many faces of Henry

H and I have enjoyed having a dog again. Both of us tragically lost our dogs right around our wedding 2 years ago and it took a whole for us to heal. Both of us lost our dogs due to freak accidents. Anyway, Henry is such a good dog and we love him to death. His faces crack me up. He definitely shows emotion. I hope he makes you smile like he does us :)

Guest Bathroom Project-done!

I am so happy to say that our guest bathroom is done! After our kitchen Reno a new vanity and double sink is on the list to be done.

We wanted to keep this budget friendly. But I wanted to make it very hotel-like and serene as well.

The first tip is always take free help when they offer. I have a friend who came and helped paint. We also painted the ceiling.

Part of the reason this was budget friendly is because the sellers left behind so. Much. Paint. Not exaggerating. They left behind tons of (many opened) paint, tools, cleaning supplies, tile and cement. We used the ceiling paint they left to paint the ceiling.

The second way we saved money was by using the paint clearance table. People order paint and either a) don't like it or b) don't pick it up so it gets sold as I huge discount. Instead of the paint being $30-40 for the gallon, it was only $5.00. Of course it's hit or miss, but lately I have had luck.

The wall art was a gift from my mother in law, the shower curtain and bathroom set was a gift from my grandma. We also got many towels for our wedding from our registry then my mother in law decided that we needed more and got us a ton of blue towels, so that's why we stuck to this color scheme. The candle and holder are old from Target.

I am very happy with how this turned out for under $100.

TJMaxx Haul and Habitat for Humanity

I have a love/hate relationship with Tjmaxx.

I love their deals, selection and ours here is a great location.

I hate the layout, the tiny fitting rooms and the crowd it generates. Also it has sooo many Ralph Lauren polo shirts, logoed cable knit sweaters and pony T-shirts. We get it. They make it affordable. But is a whole section of the store devoted to 'the pony' necessary? Just an observation.

Anyway.

Back home in NC in my small town, a Tjmaxx came to the mall. It's hard to call it a mall, it's not good at all. Now, it wasn't a big store by any means, but it was good. And it was a big deal to the town. I mean. Huge.

Now here in FL we have pretty much 2 of everything. It is grand. It's nice not having to drive 45 minutes to another town for something.

So after I volunteered at Habitat for Humanity this morning, I stopped into TJmaxx. As suspected, it was pretty crowded but I was able to find some good stuff and was able to navigate the crowd.

Today at Habitat it was yard work day. We pulled up the dead old grass with a special rake, and then applied round up. The landscape expert (Yes. They have one) is going to roll out the new grass tomorrow. The appliances also went in, which of course was exciting to all of us ladies ;)

I have been volunteering every Saturday. I should blog about it more to get more awareness of this great organization I have been apart of for so long.

Back to TJmaxx.....my big score was this mint green Kate Spade wristlet for $49.99. More of a luxury then a need but I love it. I also picked up this cute striped dress (perfect for FL weather!) and this
polka dot top.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! :)

Guest Bathroom Project

Happy Monday everyone! Wow I definitely needed one more day.

This weekend was busy. Friday was riding, cleaning and yard work, Saturday I had Habitat for Humanity where I painted one of the children's bedrooms. Of course I rode, then I began painting our guest bathroom.

Once again, I went to the Lowes paint reject table. Someone had ordered this paint and then left it. It is 'wind song' by Valspar. I want this bathroom to be very hotel like. Blues/browns/whites.

Here are the in progress photos! We need to do a second coat but I love the color. I also got a white shower curtain, and a new mirror is on the list.

The before photo has the swatch I painted on the wall but this was basically an all white, blank slate with a huge wall mirror (just glass).

I am excited about this progress and will follow up! Hope everyone has a great day :)
