Kitchen Reveal

I am happy to share before and after photos of my kitchen! Yay for bringing it up to the 2000s ;)

Before. Old, outdated, broken appliances. Ugly white cheap cabinets and green (?!) counters. And horrible wallpaper.

After! Custom brown cabinets with custom pantry (we did not have a pantry at all before). Brand new stainless steel appliances and level 3 granite counters. New stainless steel sink and faucet and glass backsplash.

The color on the walls is Arid Plains from valspar.

Lol at the Henry photo bombs :)

Appliances are Fridgadaire. Faucet is Moen.

We used a local company who did all the work and it was great. 5 months of waiting was with it.

Small Changes

Sometimes the small changes make the biggest impact in a home. My Inlaws came to visit us last month and wanted to buy us something for the house. I did not like the entryway light fixture that came with the house so my Inlaws bought us a new one. Our handyman TJ installed it the other night and I love it. Plus, it's energy efficient.

The old one was so dark and gaudy looking.

New one! So much better.

It's a small change but it made such an impact.

Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

Make it your own

So. I saw this pretty wall decoration at Target a few months ago. Loved it. But for $19.99?

No way. Well. I found it on an end cap randomly at the small target in town (we have 3!) for $5.98.

Love those red clearance stickers!

The white was too blah for my taste. Since our living room will be grey and purple I decided to paint it.

I went to lowes and got my purple paint sample. I love getting samples over spry paint because a) it's cheaper b) you get more paint and c) you can pick your shade. (Usually spray paint has 1 or 2 shade options-samples have way more!)

I picked sweet violet from yep, valspar.

I primed the flower first. I like to prime especially if it's something that's not normally painte. Even if the paint has primer. And primer is cheap.

I had to be generous with the paint to get into the design. It took 2 coats.

I let it dry and then we hung it. I plan on getting some pretty candle chandeliers for each side. I've found a few I am considering :)

Love it. Make it your own! That's the joy of paint. And I have a ton of purple for something else.

Happy Wednesday!

At it again.

Yep. Matt and I are yet painting another room. This time it's our master bath.

Right now it's a cream color with very uneven areas (some areas you can a we strokes, some areas were missed!) so we wanted to do a tan/nude color to go with our brown/tan/mint green/coral pink master bedroom.

So I went to Lowes and got our valspar samples. We picked Dust Bunny and Sand Storm. Sand storm is on top.

Easy enough right?

Wrong.

Matt really likes dust bunny and I really like sand storm. I don't like dust bunny (too many red undertones) and Matt doesn't like sand storm (he says it's too boring).

Guess we need some time on this.

Why is painting so hard? Sigh.

Our 'Random' room makeover

Remember that paint I originally bought for our guest bath that just did not work?

Yes, this valspar paint that turned out way more pink then expected. (Obviously we did not use it and used a light blue instead).

Well. It trend out to be the perfect color for our screened-in porch/lanai area!

Figured since we live in Florida we can get away with it, and it also brought out the pink in the floor tile.

We had to use a super fluffy roller brush to get into the grooves, then of course had to do some touch ups that we did with a fluffy handle brush. It took a weekend to do but we are happy with it and have received lots of compliments!

Not a huge difference, but way more fun :)

So. This is what happens when a homeowner gets bored apparently.

H is for Henry

When Matt and I redid our master, I hung our initials over our bed. I got them at Michaels and painted them using a sample size of valspar paint from Lowes. (Definitely recommend for small paint projects!)

So I went back to Michaels and got an H (smaller then our letters), painted it with - gold-like color I already had (the previous sellers left a ton of stuff!) and hung it over Henry's bed in our room.

I think he likes it ;) it adds another personal touch to our bedroom.

H is for Henry!

What I wore Wedneday!

Hope everyone had a great week and Labor Day weekend! Matt and I both worked all weekend (boo) and our new appliances came Monday! Our Reno starts Monday :)

Yaaaaaayyyy!

Speaking of Monday...that is my sister's due date with my new (second) nephew. So excited for next week!

Hope everyone has a great day:)

Simple Change

So during our bedroom makeover I wanted to get white frames for some wedding pictures. White frames are hard to come by! Finally I found them at Michaels and used one of their 40% coupons and ordered prints from Shutterfly. I hung them by our closet door. It looks so much better then a bare wall. Simple changes can make a difference for sure.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Habitat Restore Find

So today I went to donate an old ceiling fan we had and decided to walk around the Habitat for Humanity restore. I had been in a few times but wanted to look. I realized that we haven't bought our kitchen faucet yet for our Reno (starting September 9th by the way!) and thought to take a look.

I didn't find any JUST faucets. They were all attached to sinks. I did find this beauty though:

It's a Moen faucet with the sprayer feature for $50! They wouldn't sell me just the faucet. I can't use the sink as its not under mount and we bought a sink through the kitchen designer anyway.

So the nice man took the faucet off the sink and sadly, he had to break the sink to get it, so it went in the trash. But I got my pretty new Moen faucet.

Hey $50 for a Moen faucet? I will take it!

And the money went to my favorite charity. Win win.

Hey-kitchen renos are expensive. Anyway I can save money I will try.

Love the Habitat restore!

We also paid for our stainless steel appliances today. I am so ready for this renovation to begin.

Here's our stove that's all I remembered to take. But we got the gallery dishwasher (I love when the controls are on the inside), microwave and dishwasher. We already have the fridge.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Paint Makes the Difference.

I shared my master bedroom makeover which I am loving. I got asked a lot about the bird that's on the shelf. Well. The bird was white. As here.

The bird is from target-their Thereshold line. Which I love. LOVE.

Then. Bird got a makeover.

I give you....coral bird.

Yay paint!

I also had this horse decoration I got as a gift. It sat on my kitchen table for a while as I had no where to put it but the shelf in the room seemed perfect.

I like it a lot. But to me the wood was too harsh.

So. Yay paint!

The sellers left behind a ton of stuff. Cement, tile, paint, tools, 2 huge shelf units, shovels, mulch. It was kind of odd. No complaints :) one of the paint colors they left was Valspar 'Desert Khaki' in a sample size. It was the perfect color to paint the wood base to tie it into our bedding.

I like how it softened it up.

Both detail pieces can be seen here as shown already.

Super easy changes make a difference.

Again. Yay paint!

Bedroom Makeover

I am very excited our master bedroom is (pretty much) finished. By that I mean I have another wedding picture coming I plan to frame and hang on the other side of the closet. I will get white frames and ditch the black.

We painted the walls Valspar Icy Mint. The coral is Valspar Coral Banks. We painted all the baseboards, trim, doors and door frames white (they were ivory like the rest of the room)

Before:

After:

Letters are from Michaels painted.

Shelf, candle and bird are target. The bird was white. The horse statue was a gift.

I plan on putting the 2nd wedding photo I have coming on the other side and putting them both in white frames.

I am very happy with my makeover. I love having a house to paint and not have white walls :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Friday Randoms

I feel like I started to talk about our big kitchen Reno and then stopped talking about it. I'm sorry. It has been pushed due to several issues but now the new target date is September 2.

For now, here is a photo of the granite slab we choose. I love it. It is exactly what I wanted.

I am very excited as today is 2 months until I go to Ireland. I am excited and nervous at the same time.

It's been a long week and I'm glad to Friday. I plan on finishing our master bedroom this weekend and plan on posting!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hallway Project!

I am so excited that our hallway project is done! This hallway connects the guest bedrooms and bathroom and also a linen closet.

I picked out Valspar's "Lilac Gray". It fits with the "cool" tones of our house.

Before:

After:

All the trim got painted a fresh coat of white as well.

For better reference, here is what the color looks like (taken from Pinterest)

Now the wall hangings go back up ;)

It was a busy weekend! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I am so excited to share our master bedroom makeover soon.

:)
